The questions every shopper and fashionista wants to know, Has fashion really changed that much since the 16th century until now. I'm here to tell you the fashion design didn't change but the style and content did. The style and content of the corset, tunic, and ball gown silhouette brought a whole new fabulous meaning to the fashion industry. The corset was originally made in Italy in the late 1500's. The corset was made as an undergarment for the ball gowns, it was made to flatten the bust and lift the chest area according to founder Catherine de Medici. Now we use corsets also known as waist trainers as undergarments to workout in. Also wear under dresses for the same reason as Catherine de Medici. However, the corset design is being illustrated on the outside of garment and sewed to the middle. The tunics that were made in ancient roman were worn by both men and females as shirts and gowns. The males wore the tunics loose fitting and the females wore them close fitting, but they both came in solid colors and a little above the knees.

Unfortunately, in 2017 they come in different patterns like floral, swirls, lace, strips, and solid colors. During the Victorian Era during the 18th century, skirts began to widen and petticoats known to go underneath the skirt was used to hold the skirt high and in place. During the Victorian Era only the rich people were known for wearing them at balls, However, the wider the dress or skirt showed how much wealthier they were.

Nowadays the ball gown silhouette skirts being used just to make a fashion statement of glamour and elegant. Ball gown skirts can be seen wore at church, nights out around the town, and even the club. Ball room silhouette skirts were made with lace and ruffle in the 18th century but ever since the 2000's the skirts are much shorter, less wider and more flare, comes in different colors and styles, and no more petticoat and more ruffle layers underneath or nothing at all. Check out the transformation below fashionistas!!!
